Weighty comments....

Does anyone else find it amazing how many people comment about your weight??? Not just good friends that you talk about just about anything with, but people who you aren't even sure of their names??
Fair enough... I do live in a country town where everyone knows me.. even if I don't know them. We are 'blow -ins' ( as the locals call the people who aren't 3rd generation locals) and I am sure in the nearly 6 years since we have been living here, almost all of the locals would know our family by now.. .but I am amazed by the comments...
I would only go to town a couple of times a week... so I guess people don't see me everyday, but I find it strange when a old lady at the post office comments on how much more healthy I am looking these days.... or the old man that tells me that Jack better keep on his toes now ....or one of the nurses at the local hospital give me 20 questions about how I did it and what food do I eat... Don't get me wrong... I am not annoyed by the comments... Flattered in fact... but I just think at times that it is strange that people I hardly know speak to me about it! Surely your weight is a little bit of a 'taboo' subject. I think I would have to now someone quite well before making a comment but there would not be a trip into town without at least one or two comments... Did I look that bad before???
I wasn't that aware of it until a friend pointed it out... Walking down the street with her and having to stop for the third time in 30mins having the same discussion.. My friend suggested that I should have t-shirt made up with "Yes - thank you - Weight Watchers" Just to answer the first three questions...My friend has also had people asking her about my weight and what have I been doing... (obviously not the brazen people seen in the street!!)... but I guess if it makes one other person start to think about their lifestyle and what they could do to change it to make some more healthy options.. I guess we are all winners!!
Ok.. on that note I am going to leave you with two things that I flogged from Linda's post....
TFTD - (Thought for the day) - The one who takes you hand but touches your heart is a true friend
and
TIAGF - (Today I am grateful for) - Well behaved children
Until next time.. stay safe

week 3 of Challenge....

Weigh in last night revealed a loss of 700 grams - I did do a lot of walking this week as I knew that I ate lots of yummy fat-filled foods over the weekend at Robe... so very happy not to report a gain. I am beginning to feel a lot more toned... must be the challenge!!! So Week 3 challenge is...
  • Walk 55,000 steps for the week
  • 3 x times exercise video
  • Grand stand stairs 15 mins and....
  • somethig extra.. maybe Tennis or swimming Not sure yet.. but in Horsham one of the Gyms has child care between 9.30 and 10.30 during their classes....so thinking about going to Horsham one day and wacking the kids in there for a Gym class. I haven't been to gym since I moved from Horsham nearly 10 year ago--- I think it will shake the system a little if I do go. But I read about all of you girls that do go to the gym and it sounds like you do enjoy it...
And I am going to drink my Water bottle twice a day... and still not tracking..(week 2 of weaning..)
So there you have it... week 3 plan... Meetings have settled back down again.. some weeks you can't get a set and other, like last night there was only about 20 there. I often wonder why some people chose not to come... did they have a bad week... busy.. or even thrown in the towel. And then youh have the ones that come once and never resurface.... not ever sure why. Not ready to lose weight yet maybe? All seems to hard?? I have to be honest, my first week of WW I was overwelmed... couldn't get my head around everything... but now it is crystal clear.
Jack has stock take today and tomorrow so the kids and I are going to have a very quite weekend. I have just woken from a little snooze (only about 15 minutes...) so still a little dazy...
I am selling a heap of my sisters clotheson ebay at the moment... she is a 'season' dresser and shanges her cothes from season to season (she is smaller then me....) so she sells her clolthes that are almost new to fund this seasons warerobe.... she is in love with a knited Jacket at witchery - go and have a look - I don't mind it at all.... mightn't sell that one when the time come... it might just fit me!
Hope all have a great weekend and gets some rest!!

Bloody hills.....

**Thursday edit Weigh in results a loss of .7 under 65kg 64.9.....**

Had a wonderful weekend - Robe is a beautiful little coastal town and if you are ever in the area it would be a crime not to call by and check it out. One thing that it made me realise is how flat it is where we live.... Hugh woke very early on Sunday and instead of waking the girls, I took him for a huge walk - but it almost killed me!!! Bloody hills and cliffs are quite challenging if you aren't used to them - I came home very sweaty (I love it really!!) Kids loved the beach. We have been to the beach several time prior (mostly 4 x 4 trips) but it has always been too cold to let the kids get wet. Emilie loved it the most - she just loves water! Laura is a little more scared, but I am sure it's just her age and little Hugh was a little cold and shivering!! (The extra kid building sand castles is Sophie... a friends daughter... very cute little girl!!)
I ate sooooo much and loved it. Had a delish Bombay curry for lunch - miss them, You know the ones, FULL of coconut cream... yumm! I think that is the best thing about WW - you just pull up the socks following a big few days and make up for it! I haven't missed a day for walking and I have been busy around home also.. Today I cleaned up the kids toy room. It took over 2 hours - but I was in a sweat once I had finished....if I gain this week, I gain! I will just keep on going!
They call the area that we live 'Sheep Hills" - but there are not hills.. not one!
To show you what I mean I have a photo of where I walk...

And if i think I need to shake it up a little - I go out the gate and head this way....

You know now why I need a MP3 player to keep me walking!! It isn't just around us where it is flat - the whole Wimmera is just paddock after paddock! Flat, straight road after straight, flat road... I guess that is home and why I love it so much here! But speaking of MP3 players..... what is everyone liisterning to? I need up update the music in mine - getting a bit sick of what is there and not sure what to put on it?? Any suggestions??
Have a great week!!

Weigh in day again....

** Weigh in Results - gain of 100 grams (i had tea before I went in!!) so I am maintaining well!! Very happy !!
The weeks just seem to get shorter and shorter..... Weigh in tonight and I will edit once I have been with my result. I have done my challenge for the week and will set this weeks challenge once I have been and weighed. I really feel that I have the eating under control... like it is a habit now not to eat crap... Following our NZ Emily with her 20 sugar points a week and I done the same - well allowed myself that many and I think I have only had about 11. I just need to continue with the exercise and making sure I am in control.... sounds just so bloody easy!!!!** he he he**
The challenge was done.. with ease I would like to say! So it will be a little harder this week!
I made Tomato sauce yesterday.. My sister, who has just moved to Melbourne and is home for a couple of weeks before uni starts came up with her boyfriend and my mum came to yabby in the dam... so a FULL on day yesterday. I am proud to report that the sauce is beautiful and will keep us going for a while. Laura and Hugh love home made sauce, so I can't imagine it lasting as long as last year! A lot of work, making sauce, relish is just so much easier and taste just as good, but still made it and will most likely make it again next year!
We are heading to Robe (SA coast) this weekend. Friends of ours are there for 2 weeks at a B & B, so we booked into the same B & B with the kids for a night. Hopefully the weather is hot so the kids can get down to the beach. Looking forward to getting the kids buggered on the beach in the arvo... then early to bed for them and then we can all sit down and enjoy a nice meal and a couple of drinks....
The wonderful Pumpkin Patch catalogue arrived today (thank you NZ for that - and ezibuy for that matter!) so my nearly 4 year old has been pouring through the pages picking out what she want - how cute - speaking of Emilie... funny story mum just told me from yestesday..
- Mum and the girls where up on my bed watching a DVD in the afternoon while the sauce was cooking and Emilie put her finger in Granny's mouth - Mum pretended to eat her finger with all of the sound effects, "Yum, MMMM, " etc... then little Emilie pipes up with "Granny, do you want some more of my boggers (SP?)" and started to pick her nose again!! Nice hey!

Anyway.. better go and fold the ironing and put tha baby down for another little nap!
Will be back later with weigh in results - good - bad or ugly!!
WEEK 2 CHALLENGE
Walk 53000 steps
3 lots of resistence exercise (ie WW DVD with Fit Strip)
Drink Water bottle 1.5 times daily
15 minutes of grand stand climbing at some stage during the week (Steps)

Goodbye... You will be missed....

It is time for us to say goodbye to something that has been a part of our everyday lives for nearly the past 4 years... There will be a huge gap in our kitchen without you.... But it is time to go.... High chair!!

After spending nearly an hour, scrubbing off any remains of food that has been building up in those hard to reach places... I am comfortable to give it away... Without the new owners "tish tish" my mothering and cleaning skills... Hugh, although still a little boy decided about a month ago that he no longer required the aid of the high chair... but instead he wished to be with everyone else at the kitchen table. And who am I to argue. From nearly four years of cleaning and tripping over our high chair... I am pleased to see it go! But further more... I am pleased to see it go to a good home! Friends of ours in Warracknabeal son is moving back to Australia from Zambia with their 2 year old and number 2 arriving in May... so it will be straight back to work for the highchair. I think it has enough left in it for another 12 kids!!
As you can see from my photo attached... our highchair is fairly flash and you are thinking (if you have had kids and know how expensive these things are...) my god did they spend that much on a highchair!!! Well... not in a pink fit!! I won it.. you know in one of those baby magazine... "please tell us in 25 words or less why you would like to win this Peg Pergro Highchair valued at $450.00" - Sorry - but I can't remember what I wrote... but whatever it was it must have been convincing..
So another reason why I am happy to give it away... it is just to good to leave up in our barn... just in case we get visitors with young kids! It has had all of our kids sit up in it from about the age of 6 weeks or so.. many a birthday cake also had it's candles blown out upon it's table... So, far well old friend and enjoy your new surrounds!!

Just a quick Challenge update - so far so good... but food has been average.. Eaten all my points each day... I have been starving!! But I have been good with exercise so I should not see a gain!
Making Chicken Curry Risitto tonight... I must put that receipe to the points cafe - great for NoCount and not bad either for points. Just came back from a 1 year old birthday party at the park - now I have two in bed and I think I will see about a little Nanna Nap myself.. Laura was up at 3.30am and didn't really go back to sleep - she woke Hugh at about 5.30am - so I don't think I have been back to sleep since 3.30 - and If I did.. it was just a doze. Time for catch up.!

Hope you all have a great week!!

WATCH THIS SPACE ** MY FIRST CHALLENGE**

** Edit - Weigh in results just in - stayed the same - 65.5kg **
Yes... you read correctly... I have never set myself up for a challenge before now.... but the time has come for me to MOVE IT......
I haven't been able to get everything together at the one time and now, perhaps not so much for weight loss, but to maintain my weight I need to move it again. Those hot days stopped me and I haven't been able to get going again!!

So what will the challenge involve??? I'm not too sure yet... so please keep posted.... I am about to sit down and read all of the Weight Watchers "Move" info then I will post back with the details....
But I now what my reward will be - A new pair of sneakers and I know how long I want to set the challenge for - 6 weeks - now I just have to work out what the challenge for the 6 weeks is going to be.. perhaps starting slowly again and working up to what I what to be able to do forever?? I haven't got new habits yet for exercise - that is what I am going to be working on !!!
Ok... i'm back and ready to go....

My Rules

Must wear Pedometer each day and get to 50,000 steps for the entire week (This might not seem ike a lot to some of you - but it has been three weeks since I really exercised continually)

Do WW new 15 minute DVD at least 3 times with resistance (again - doesn't seem like A lot, but I promise it will get harder...)

Each meal - stop 3/4 through to see if I am still hungry (I just ate a huge meal - that is why that one is there!!)

Drink my water bottle at least once each day

My idea is that each week I will slowly increase my movements up to the six week mark.... then if I do each weekly challenge for the 6 weeks I will reward myself with a new pair of sneakers...

What do you think??? Too easy.... It is only week one!!

Life lessons....

Hi there all..
I just received this email from my neighbour... thought you might enjoy
Five (5) lessons to make you think about the way you treat people.
1 - First Important Lesson - Cleaning Lady.
During my second month of college, our professor gave us a pop quiz. I was a conscientious student and had breezed through the questions until I read the last one: "What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?" Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the cleaning woman several times. She was tall, dark-haired and in her 50s, but how would I know her name? I handed in my paper, leaving the last question blank. Just before class ended, one student asked if the last question would count toward our quiz grade. "Absolutely," said the professor. "In your careers, you will meet many people. All are significant. They deserve your attention and care, even if all you do is smile and say "hello". I've never forgot that lesson. I also learned her name was Dorothy.
2. - Second Important Lesson - Pickup in the Rain
One night, at 11:30 p.m., an older African American woman was standing on the side of an Alabama highway trying to endure a lashing rainstorm. Her car had broken down and she desperately needed a ride. Soaking wet, she decided to flag down the next car. A young white man stopped to help her, generally unheard of in those conflict-filled 1960s. The man took her to safety, helped her get assistance and put her into a taxicab She seemed t o be in a big hurry, but wrote down his address and thanked him. Seven days went by and a knock came on the man's door To his surprise, a giant console color TV was delivered to his home. A special note was attached.. It read: "Thank you so much for assisting me on the highway the other night. The rain drenched not only my clothes, but also my spirits. Then you came along. Because of you, I was able to make it to my dying husband's bedside just before he passed away... God bless you for helping me and unselfishly serving others." Sincerely, Mrs. Nat King Cole.
3 - Third Important Lesson - Always remember those who serve.
In the days when an ice cream sundae cost much less, a 10-year-old boy entered a hotel coffee shop and sat at a table. A waitress put a glass of water in front of him.
"How much is an ice cream sundae?" he asked. "Fifty cents," replied the waitress. The little boy pulled is hand out of his pocket and studied the coins in it. "Well, how much is a plain dish of ice cream?" he inquired. By now more people were waiting for a table and the waitress was growing impatient. "Thirty-five cents," she brusquely replied. The little boy again counted his coins."I'll have the plain ice cream," he said. The waitress brought the ice cream, put the bill on the table and walked away. The boy finished the ice cream, paid the cashier and left. When the waitress came back, she began to cry as she wiped down the table. There, placed neatly beside the empty dish, were two nickels and five pennies..You see, he couldn't have the sundae, because he had to have enough left to leave her a tip.
4 - Fourth Important Lesson. - The Obstacle in Our Path.
In ancient times, a King had a boulder placed on a roadway. Then he hid himself and watched to see if anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the king's wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply walked around it. Many loudly blamed the King for not keeping the roads clear, but none did anything about getting the stone out of the way. Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables. Upon approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the stone to the side of the road. After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded. After the> peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed a purse lying in the road where the boulder had> been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note from the King indicating that the gold was for the person who removed the boulder from the roadway. The> peasant learned what many of us never understand! Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve our condition.
5 - Fifth Important Lesson - Giving When it Counts...
Many years ago, when I worked as a volunteer at a hospital, I got to know a little girl named Liz who was suffering from a rare &serious disease. Her only chance of recovery appeared to be a blood transfusion from her 5-year old brother, who had miraculously survived the same disease and had developed the antibodies needed to combat the illness. The doctor explained the situation to her little brother, and asked the little boy if he would> be willing to give his blood to his sister. I saw him hesitate for only a moment before taking a deep breath and saying, "Yes I'll do it if it will save her." As the transfusion progressed, he lay in> bed next to his sister and smiled, as we all did, seeing the color returning to her cheek. Then his>face grew pale and his smile faded. He looked up at the doctor and asked with a trembling voice, "Will I start to die right away". Being young, the little boy had misunderstood the doctor; he thought he was going to have to give his> sister all of his blood in order to save her.

It really is the small things
in life that count...

Strange few days....

Hi there all...
Hope that everyone is back into the swing of things again. With school and kinder back for some. It gets everything back into routine.... well sort of.

Just had weigh in and I am pleased to report another loss of 1.5kg so down to 65.5kg!!!... had a great week food wise, but little to no exercise and some days my water intake could have been more. I can't seem to get it all together at the same time...

Strange few days... on more then one occasion, I could have easily had a little binge on lollies... only gave in once!! Long story about to unfold....

I had invited two couples here for tea on Saturday night.. one couple couldn't make it and I still left my offer open to the other couple. I worked on Saturday arvo (Taking photos for our local paper) and while I was gone Jack said that they had rung and said that they where to buggered to come over and that they where going to have a quite night at home.... no problem there at all! I hadn't organised anything at that stage (about 4pm) so it really was no big deal them pulling out...

Tuesday morning and I was helping out the couple's brother & sister-inlaw on their farm, and one of the couple was there. Something was said about Saturday night between the brothers and the sister-in-law changed the subject very quickly... nothing more said. But later that day I was to find out that the couple that had said that they where to buggered to come to our house actually had other plans to go out with the others.... this doesn't worry me that they went out but what pissed me off was that they had lied to us about what they where doing. If they had of said that they had a better offer.. I wouldn't have given a rats arse about it.. but I really hate being deceived. So... after I rang husband in tears.. he suggest that I ring them.. which I did.. which came with an excuse of a last minute change of plans... lame. But I have let it go... they know what I think about it all..
Jack is good about things like that... always a little more rational then me - I guess he is male and hasn't got that bitch gene!
So.. happy with WW this week... I think that the points program works better for me. I am starting to get comments like "i hope you aren't going to lose more..." or the other end of the scale "Still got a little more to lose.." people are funny about their approach to weight loss. The fact that they have noticed in just good in my books... Two people that asked me this week about how I lost my weight where there signing up tonight... that is the biggest buzz of all... I think a lot of people have noticed my weight loss because I have never been one to hide my weight... I never wore big shirts or baggy pants... if it was there you saw each and every bump and lump! (Gross, I know...) and now I still dress the same style... but just smaller sizes. I brought a pair of size 10 pants this week (Target... bargin of the year!!) And I think the other reason is that I really have lost the weight quickly... I only joined WW in September 05 and at WW Goal in December.... I love that I have motivated other people to make a lifestyle change...
Ok then, on that note, hope that you all have a fantastic weekend and I recommend a great chicks DVD for weekend viewing - Bride & Prejudice... Bollywood version (Indian) of Jane Austins Pride & Prejudice... very funny and will make you want to visit India... not really one for the Hubby's... send them out gardening!
