Does anyone else find it amazing how many people comment about your weight??? Not just good friends that you talk about just about anything with, but people who you aren't even sure of their names??
Fair enough... I do live in a country town where everyone knows me.. even if I don't know them. We are 'blow -ins' ( as the locals call the people who aren't 3rd generation locals) and I am sure in the nearly 6 years since we have been living here, almost all of the locals would know our family by now.. .but I am amazed by the comments...
I would only go to town a couple of times a week... so I guess people don't see me everyday, but I find it strange when a old lady at the post office comments on how much more healthy I am looking these days.... or the old man that tells me that Jack better keep on his toes now ....or one of the nurses at the local hospital give me 20 questions about how I did it and what food do I eat... Don't get me wrong... I am not annoyed by the comments... Flattered in fact... but I just think at times that it is strange that people I hardly know speak to me about it! Surely your weight is a little bit of a 'taboo' subject. I think I would have to now someone quite well before making a comment but there would not be a trip into town without at least one or two comments... Did I look that bad before???
I wasn't that aware of it until a friend pointed it out... Walking down the street with her and having to stop for the third time in 30mins having the same discussion.. My friend suggested that I should have t-shirt made up with "Yes - thank you - Weight Watchers" Just to answer the first three questions...My friend has also had people asking her about my weight and what have I been doing... (obviously not the brazen people seen in the street!!)... but I guess if it makes one other person start to think about their lifestyle and what they could do to change it to make some more healthy options.. I guess we are all winners!!

I personally think it's a good thing. You're obviously inspiring people and are looking amazing :-) People who look after themselves do have a certain glow about them so no wonder your the "talk of the town" LOL. Keep up the great work!
I think WW should snag your line ASAP and start selling those shirts!! I love it!!!
Oh come ON! You know that NOTHING is taboo in a country town!
The first time my bf stayed at Dad's, he went to the general store to buy the paper and was interrogated: "Who are you? Ooohh, that's a different name (it's Welsh). Where are you staying? Ooohh, I didn't know that she was seeing someone, although she hasn't been home for a while... How long have you been with her? Where are you from? You play footy? Cricket? (Yes and yes, luckily.) Well, they're always looking for new recruits, Trev's your man at the footy club, and Mick at cricket."
Your weight is just another thing to natter about - I'd happily suck it up! (And if I am honest, it's one of the things that scares me about going back for a long-overdue visit. I want to stride into the pub skinny!!)
Yep! Country towns - nothing really is sacred isn't it?! ~jk~
Lap it all up Kirsty - you deserve it!
Hope you are having a great week :)
Love the idea of the T-shirt. You should do it. And as you would have shocked them silent as they walked towards you, you should put something on the back for when they turn back to look at you like "Call me later - we can talk" LOL
Way to go - you are a wonderful role model for the town and your children :D
YES YES, Its funny isnt it? that people who hardly know you can just blurt out a "weight" comment?? Nurses are the worst at this by the way... I laughed at that part in your blog. It used to drive me crazy - the same ones that would ask how I keep fit would continually eat fried dim sims or coffee scrolls for morning tea while telling me they "cant" loose weight...Mind you, Im just as bad. Ive noticed that the local owner of the post office is looking slimmer, she has started riding her bike of a morning and "rumour" has it she has joined weight watchers... (SEE Im fron a country town and just as bad as the nosy locals)
have a delightful weekend
