These are a few of my favorite things....

Do others here read "Slimming & health"... and flick to the back page where they look into the shopping basket of some 'famous' person... well I am not famous, but here are some of my favorite shopping items...
Bakers Delight Cape seed Bread - my god girls, if you haven't been converted, do yourself a favour and try this bread... very nutty and a low GI! Nothing else compares when it comes to bread!
Fantastic chicken favoured Rice crackers - I know they are boring, but all the same a real staple for me! Sometimes I put a little of that extra light philly cheese with a gherkin (yummo!)
PUMPKIN - LOVE IT!!! Would eat an entire pumpkin a week - roasted with chili and penne pasta is my favorite at the moment... but I use it all the time!
Walnuts - I only started eating these recently! I don't eat fish.. (HATE IT!) so these little babies have a heap of Omega - 3 - just what my brain needs. I usually have a small handful with my muesli in the morning (no milk on my cereal.. don't really like plain old milk either..)
Earth Cleaning Products - No.. I am not a tree -hugging hippy greenie (nothing wrong with being a Greenie btw..) but we pump all of our household waste water (not the toilet) back onto our garden.. these products are friendly to my lawn!
Fresh Pineapple - I am not sure if it is a load of shit, but I only buy pineapples that I can pull the leaves from the top with ease??? Any one confirm this ripeness test?? But love them!
WW Sour cream - Always have it in the fridge! I use a mix of half this and half fat free mayo for a dressing for potato salad (just potato and spring onions and dressing) and I also make a pizza where you put pizza sauce, a layer of thinly sliced potato, ham, onion and cheese - cook then put sour cream and sweet chilli sauce on the pizza once cooked!
Fabric Softener - I have a front loading washing machine - if I don't use fabric softener, my clothes are as hard as cardboard!
Avocado - On a premium fat free crackers with cracked pepper... yummo...
REV Milk - We only drink REV! If we go somewhere for a coffee and they use other milk.. we can tell!
Coffee - We drink Moccona or sometimes I get necafe "Nuvo" (half caf) coffee.. if you are going to drink it.. it might as well be worth drinking
Coke Zero - this is more for Jack, then me! But we go through A LOT of coke zero! the kids have some over the weekend, but most of the time it is Jack!
So, girls.. I am looking for new items to include in my shopping trolley... Share with me some of your favorite things!

Kirsty,: YUM, - I LOVE Bakers Delight Capeseed Rolls! Infact I had one, (a single roll for $1.20) on Fri night for tea with filled with cottage cheese, salad ingredients and a sliver of smoked salmon, - oh so good, - followed by a punnet of fresh strawberries!

So to add a few fav things of mine to that trolley:

* Have to start with a Cape Seed Roll like you!

* Smoked salmon and/or piece of fresh salmon, (or any fish). Sorry, I love all fish and seafood!

* Lean skinless chicken breast, - I love chicken too! Sometimes kangaroo, lean beef tofu.

* Plain Wholegrain rolled oats, - one of my staples!

* fresh vegies, - colourful and any variety, - cherry tomatoes are awesome though hey! So flavourful! So much cheaper than in NZ where they seemed to be at least $6 a punnet. With being closer to $2 a punnet in Oz I eat them loads! Sweet potato is great, microwaved with skin on then grilled.

* fresh fruit, (favs are fresh strawberries, grapes, apples, oranges, pears, pineapple, melon, bananas). Also love frozen blueberries or raspberries which get microwaved and stirred into porridge with protein powder!

* Home Brand Low fat cottage cheese, - umm, - love it!

* Ryvitas, - original wholegrain ones!

* Brown rice

* lemon juice, sweet chilli sauce, garlic, maybe a herb

* small plain/flavoured 90-95g tins of tuna/salmon in springwater with less than 250mg of sodium per tin.

* natural non flavoured low fat yoghurt.

There we go, - pretty much my main staples for when 'on track' and I enjoy variations of stuff made with them.

As in my recent weight gain episode insert mounds of various chocolate/fudge, icecream, gelato, caramel sauce, pizza, pizza bread, hard vintage tasty cheese, mounds of unsliced crusty bread I tore in large quantities, thick icecream based smoothies and iced choc type drinks, sushi overload in ridiculous portions, wedges, sour cream, deep fried seafood, much stuff as savoury muffins, - all in big quantities. I can live without these foods or in very moderation but if in wrong frame of mind these can lead to binges! So that's my list of caution!

I am in love with the smoked salmon philly right now. Great on bagels or even rice cakes. Lachie loves it too. Wish they had a light version though!

Hey, I just switched to Earth cleaning products and they do the job...as well as being nice to the environment :-)

I do the ripeness test on pineapples too :D

The cape seed bread reminded me of a recipe I used to make - you get the cape seed rolls (not bread), flatten them and toast them then spread with seed mustard, ricotta cheese with a layer of tomato and basil leaves on top. Used to be my fave lunch, must make it again.

I am a big coke zero fan too. I might have to try those bakers delight rolls, they sound delicious!

My favourite things... home made pizza on wholemeal pita bread with chicken breast, pineapple, light ceese, onion and BBQ sauce- great Friday night treat!

Cracked pepper vita wheats, nice and tasty.

Raisin toast (no butter) for breakky.

Light popcorn, great for when you feel like midless snacking in front of the TV!

Mmm, cape seed bread is the BEST! So filling. Yum.

I agree about moccona.. we buy it too. If you have good coffee, sometimes you don't even need a snack.

I have found earth cleaning products just don't work as well as the 'damaging'stuff unfortunately.
